Refugee Children Risking Their Lives

We see families, mostly women and children, fleeing their homelands for all kinds of reasons: war, persecution, terrorism, the risk of being sold into human trafficking. Often, it is the refugee children who suffer the most.

“The toughest part of my job is to see people, especially children, go through such hardship on a daily basis. Sometimes it makes you lose hope in this world.” ~ Mimmo, Search and Rescue crew member on the MOAS Responder

MOAS teams are made up of rescue swimmers, medical staff, a captain, engineer and navigator all who are ready at a moment’s notice to go in and save people at risk of drowning.

“When you come upon a person drowning, should politics make you pause before rescuing him?” ~ Christopher Catrambone, co-founder of MOAS

There is no place for politics in search and rescue, especially when for the first time in history, children make up the vast majority of refugees. It is our mission to save them. Thankfully, our first mission in 2016 resulted in this little girl’s safety. Safe. Because of our generous donors and the amazing MOAS search and rescue crew.
