Every year in the MOAS calendar, we use Giving Tuesday as a kick-off point for our holiday season campaigns. We are very aware that this is a highly demanding time of year, with the resources and attention of our supporters stretched thin. This season comes with added expenses linked to gifting and travel, special meals, and activities of celebration. It’s also an intensely emotional time for many, navigating tricky familial situations, reconnecting with loved ones, or feeling overwhelmed by the expectations of the season. It is in the face of all these added demands and commitments that our global family keep space in their minds and hearts for the vulnerable communities MOAS supports, making their dedication and generosity more special.
Giving Tuesday is celebrated on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving and was created as a response to the consumerism and self-indulgence often associated with celebrations around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This year Giving Tuesday will be on Tuesday 28th November and we have some incredible things in store.
We will be raising funds for our ongoing life-saving operations worldwide and have put together a breakdown of each one, so you can easily update yourselves on the work your donations will support. Take a look at our blogs (linkhttps://www.moas.eu/category/blog/) from the last month to find out more.
We are so proud of the work we do at MOAS, which allows us to create innovative, trend-setting programs and activities working toward meaningful and sustainable solutions to the crises affecting them and their communities. However, it is impossible to escape the fact that the work we do and the creativity and passion we have for our work are necessitated by the devastating needs of individuals, families and communities facing inhuman and unjust crises. We are committed to offering help and support but are also keenly aware that we are incredibly privileged to be working on such activities in the peace and safety afforded to us by circumstance.
This Giving Tuesday, as we continue to push for the support, we need to enact our humanitarian programming, we remain grateful to you, our donors and supporters, for believing in our work and for continuing to stand alongside us as we implement our projects and provide services to those in need of them. We will also owe gratitude to our local and international partners who form a team of entities working together for the mitigation of suffering and loss of life. It is true that, as a donor-funded organisation with multiple programs internationally, we often campaign for financial support, and this Giving Tuesday will be no exception, but we will, as always, commit those contributions toward operations and use them to reach as many people as possible in the coming months.
