MOAS to terminate their partnership with Emergency NGO aboard Responder

After two months of successful operations at sea, the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) and EMERGENCY NGO will be ending their partnership aboard the MOAS vessel Responder.

Due to an unpredictable shortfall in funding, which would have jeopardised MOAS’ humanitarian mission in the Central Mediterranean in the coming months, the organisation was forced to urgently pursue other, more sustainable and long term solutions to address the funding gap, which sadly cannot include EMERGENCY NGO.

Since launching the 2016 Mediterranean search and rescue mission on 6 June, a team of doctors, nurses and cultural mediators from EMERGENCY NGO have worked closely with the MOAS search and rescue crew, providing the highest level of care for the thousands of vulnerable people we have rescued together.

“We are extremely grateful to EMERGENCY NGO for their dedication and professionalism and the important contribution they have made to our Central Mediterranean mission 2016, which has so far led to the rescue and assistance of over 10,000 people in just two short months” said MOAS founder Christopher Catrambone.
