The Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) is pleased to announce that Simonds Farsons Cisk plc have donated 6,000 bottles of water to supporting our life-saving search-and-rescue (SAR) mission at sea. The bottles will be distributed to children, women and men that we have safely rescued to provide much needed hydration on-board our vessel, the Phoenix.
This donation is extremely valuable to our efforts since MOAS distributes a bottle of water to each person rescued, which they can then refill during their time on-board. Severe dehydration is the most common condition faced by migrants and refugees at sea, due to people being exposed to harsh sea conditions with no access to water for long periods of time during their crossing. Providing clean water is a critical part of the work done by our post-rescue medical care team and is essential to make sure the people we rescue start to recover as quickly as possible once safely on board our vessel.
As a leading local and regional beverages producer and supplier, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc are an excellent partner to provide support within this area. Their generous donation will fulfil this fundamental role in our operation, and allow us to provide thousands of people with water.

MOAS is a registered charity dedicated to mitigating the loss of life at sea by providing professional search and rescue services along the world’s most dangerous migrant routes. Originally founded as a private initiative in 2014, MOAS was the first NGO to set sail into the Mediterranean with the aim of rescuing migrants and refugees who were making the perilous journey from Libya to Italy. Since then, MOAS has grown into an international organisation which has rescued and assisted over 37,000 children, women and men in the Central Mediterranean and Aegean Seas.
